User Guide

Learn how to use PlaysText to convert text, articles, and PDFs into natural-sounding audio.

Getting Started

1. Create an Account

  1. Go to the homepage and click
    Get Started Free
    or
    Sign Up
  2. Enter your email address and create a password
  3. Or click
    Continue with Google
    for quick registration
  4. You will receive 5,000 free credits to start

2. Sign In

  1. Click
    Sign In
    in the top right corner
  2. Enter your email and password
  3. Or use
    Continue with Google

Converting Text to Speech

  1. Navigate to
    Extract
    page from the menu
  2. Choose your input method:
    • Web URL Tab: Paste a link to an article or blog post
    • PDF Tab: Paste a link to a PDF document
  3. Click
    Extract
    to pull the text content
  4. Review the extracted text and character count
  5. Select your preferred TTS Provider (Google, OpenAI, or ElevenLabs), Voice, and Speed
  6. Click
    Generate Audio
  7. Wait for processing (shown in your library)

Credit Usage: Credits are based on character count. Different providers have different rates.

Audio Library

Viewing Your Audio Files

  1. Click
    Library
    in the navigation menu
  2. Browse all your generated audio files
  3. Use filters: Search, Status, Provider, Source type

Audio Controls

  • Play/Pause: Start or stop playback
  • Progress Bar: Scrub through the audio
  • Volume: Adjust audio volume
  • Download: Save the MP3 file to your device

Sharing Audio

  1. Open an audio file from your library
  2. Click the
    Share
    button
  3. Configure sharing options:
    • Title: Custom title for the share
    • Description: Add a description
    • Allow Download: Let listeners download the file
    • Show Listen Count: Display play count
    • Expiration: Set when the link expires
  4. Click
    Create Share
  5. Copy the public link to share with anyone

Anyone with the link can listen without an account. Embed code is available for websites.

Analytics

  1. Open an audio file from your library
  2. Click
    View Stats

Available Metrics

  • Total Listens: How many times played
  • Unique Listeners: Individual visitors
  • Completion Rate: Average % listened
  • Geographic Data: Countries of listeners
  • Device Types: Desktop, mobile, tablet
  • Timeline: Listens over time (7/30/90 days, year)

Checking Your Balance

Go to

Billing
to view your current credit balance and transaction history.

Purchasing Credits

  1. Browse available packages on the Billing page
  2. Each package shows credits, price, and cost per 1,000 characters
  3. Click
    Purchase
    on your chosen package
  4. Complete payment via Stripe
  5. Credits are added instantly

Tips for Best Results

For URL Extraction

  • Works best with article pages and blog posts
  • Some sites may block automated access
  • Paywalled content cannot be extracted
  • JavaScript-heavy sites may have limited results

For PDF Extraction

  • Text-based PDFs work best
  • Scanned documents may have poor results
  • Maximum file size: 50MB
  • Password-protected PDFs are not supported

For Audio Quality

  • Use periods and paragraph breaks for longer pauses
  • Use proper punctuation for emphasis
  • Write numbers as words for natural reading
  • Spell out abbreviations
